Written scopes and line-item estimates before any work begins.

Yes. Our EPA lead-safe certification LFC-281 means we follow federal RRP (Renovation, Repair, and Painting) rules for containment, cleanup, and disposal on any home built before 1978. Many Maple Plain homes fall into that era, and we are equipped to handle them properly.

Common Questions Before Hiring NorBrook in Maple Plain, MN

Lot Selection in Minnesota

How much does a full re-side cost in Maple Plain?

What warranty do I get?

What happens at the first appointment?

Do you work on homes with lead paint?

Do I need a permit for siding work?

Most full re-sides on a single-family home in Maple Plain take five to eight working days once materials arrive. Tear-off of old siding adds one to two days if the existing cladding is wood. Weather delays can push the schedule, and our project manager will communicate any changes the same day.

We provide a workmanship warranty on our labor, and the manufacturer's product warranty covers the material. Fiber cement products typically carry a 30-year non-prorated warranty, while vinyl varies by brand from 25 years to lifetime. We walk through warranty details at the estimate appointment so you know exactly what is covered.

Yes. The city of Maple Plain requires a building permit for a full re-side. We pull the permit, schedule the inspection, and handle the paperwork. You do not need to visit city hall.

One of our project managers visits your home, measures the exterior, inspects the existing siding condition, and discusses your material preferences. We take photos and notes, then deliver a written estimate within a few business days. There is no charge and no obligation.

How long does a siding project take?

For a standard rambler or split-level, our written estimates for vinyl typically fall between $8,000 and $13,000, and fiber cement runs $15,000 to $24,000. The exact number depends on wall area, trim details, and whether we need to address sheathing or moisture damage underneath. Your written estimate will confirm the price before any work begins.

Minnesota homeowners replacing windows and doors face a unique set of challenges: brutal cold, ice dams, and energy codes that are among the strictest in the country. Getting the job done right means more than picking a product off a showroom floor. It means understanding how materials, installation methods, and local building science all work together in a climate that regularly drops below zero.

Cities We Serve in the West Metro

We work throughout the following communities. [CONFIRM final list]

As a family-owned contractor, we know these neighborhoods: the lake homes around Minnetonka and Orono, the newer developments in Corcoran and Medina, and the established streets of Wayzata and Excelsior. That local knowledge shapes how we plan a project, from lot conditions and municipal review to the material choices that hold up in this climate.

Historic Brick-District Rooflines

Chaska's downtown core sits on a unique legacy: cream-colored Chaska brick buildings dating to the late 1800s. Many of the homes within a few blocks of Second Street share steep-pitched rooflines, narrow soffits, and original plank decking that you simply don't find in suburban developments. When we work on these older structures, the sequencing matters as much as the materials. Our crews strip the existing layers down to the deck, inspect for rot or structural sag in the rafters, and sister or replace any compromised framing before a single shingle goes on.

Permit requirements in Chaska follow the Minnesota State Building Code, but the city's planning staff pays close attention to projects near the historic district. We handle the permit pull and coordinate any required inspections so the homeowner doesn't have to chase paperwork. Because many of these homes were built before 1978, our EPA lead-safe certification (LFC-281) is not optional: it's a legal requirement for disturbing painted surfaces, and we carry it on every applicable job. The steep pitches and tight lot lines also mean fall protection and scaffolding plans get more attention here than on a typical ranch-style home. Our OSHA 30-trained leadership builds those plans before the crew arrives on site.

New-Growth Subdivision Roofs Northwest of Downtown

Head northwest of downtown Chaska toward Clover Ridge or the newer parcels off Pioneer Trail and the housing stock shifts dramatically. These are production-built homes from the 2000s through the mid-2020s, most with architectural asphalt shingles that are now hitting the fifteen-to-twenty-year mark where storm damage and natural wear start converging. The roof geometry is simpler than what we see downtown, but the sheer square footage and the number of penetrations (bath vents, kitchen vents, radon stacks, satellite mounts) create their own challenges.

We approach these subdivision roofs with a full-system mindset. That means we don't just swap shingles: we inspect and replace pipe boots, step flashing, drip edge, and ice-and-water shield in the valleys and along the eaves where Minnesota's freeze-thaw cycles do the most damage. A typical Chaska subdivision re-roof takes our crew three to five days depending on size, weather windows, and whether we're adding ridge ventilation that the original builder skipped. We coordinate dumpster placement and material delivery to stay off HOA radar, because some of these associations have strict rules about staging in driveways and cul-de-sacs.

Why Homeowners Hire NorBrook Construction

We carry Minnesota residential building contractor licence BC80875, which you can verify yourself through the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry licence lookup. For any Chaska home built before 1978, our EPA lead-safe certification LFC-281 ensures we meet federal and state requirements for safe renovation practices. Co-founder Seth Norling holds the OSHA 30 certification, and that safety-first standard filters down to every crew member on the job site.

We're based in Maple Plain, which puts us close enough to Chaska that our project managers aren't commuting from the far side of the metro. Do you work on homes with lead paint?

Here's how the real siding options stack up for a Minnesota home:

Your Options Compared, and What We Recommend

Material Lifespan Typical Cost (2,200 sq ft) Wind Rating NorBrook Recommendation
3-Tab Asphalt 15-20 years $9,000-$12,000 60-70 mph Budget option only; we rarely recommend it for Minnesota exposure.
Architectural Asphalt 25-30 years $12,000-$18,000 110-130 mph Our default for most Chaska homes: best balance of cost, durability, and curb appeal.
Metal Standing Seam 40-60 years $22,000-$35,000 140+ mph Worth the investment on homes you plan to keep long-term or with low-slope sections prone to ice dams.
Synthetic Slate/Shake 30-50 years $18,000-$28,000 110+ mph Great for historic-district homes where you want the look of natural materials without the weight or maintenance.

For most Chaska homeowners, we recommend architectural asphalt shingles with a full ice-and-water shield system along the eaves and valleys. The average cost of a roof replacement in the Twin Cities falls right in that architectural range, and the wind ratings hold up well against the storms that roll through the Minnesota River valley each summer. If you're in the historic district and want something with more character, synthetic slate gives you the aesthetic without requiring structural reinforcement.

A typical single-family roof takes three to five working days from tear-off to cleanup. Association projects take longer depending on the number of buildings, but we phase the work so each unit is watertight before we move to the next. Your project manager will give you a specific timeline in the estimate.

Common Questions Before Hiring NorBrook in Chaska, MN

How much does a roof replacement cost in Chaska?

A typical asphalt roof replacement on a Chaska home runs between $12,000 and $18,000 for architectural shingles. That range shifts based on roof size, pitch, and the number of layers we need to tear off. Your written estimate from us will confirm the exact number before any work begins.

How long will the project take?

Most residential re-roofs take our crew three to five working days. Weather delays are real in Minnesota, especially during spring and fall shoulder seasons, but your project manager keeps you updated on scheduling shifts as they happen.

What warranty do I get?

We provide a workmanship warranty on our installation, and the shingle manufacturer provides a separate material warranty, typically 30 years for architectural products. We walk you through both warranties at the estimate appointment so there are no surprises.

Do I need to be home during the work?

No. We coordinate access, dumpster placement, and material staging before the project starts. Your project manager sends photo updates so you can follow progress whether you're home or at work.

Are you licensed to work in Chaska?

Yes. Our Minnesota contractor licence BC80875 covers residential work statewide, including Chaska. Minnesota's independent contractor classification rules are strict, and we operate fully within them: W-2 employees, workers' comp coverage, and liability insurance on every job.

What happens at the first appointment?

We inspect your roof from the ground and, if safe, walk it. We measure, photograph problem areas, check ventilation, and discuss your goals and budget. You get a written estimate within a few business days, and Minnesota homeowners should expect transparency on scope and pricing from any contractor they consider hiring.

What We Build

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Seth Norling

Vice President

I've spent more than 12 years in the construction industry, and I've built my career around one idea: a project runs best when it's planned well and managed closely. As Vice President at NorBrook Construction, I focus on project management, planning, and execution — making sure every build moves forward efficiently, stays on budget, and meets the highest standards from the first meeting to the final walkthrough.

My background is rooted in both education and hands-on experience. I'm a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a degree in Commercial Construction Management, and I've spent the years since delivering projects through strong leadership and close collaboration with clients, crews, and partners. I've learned that clear communication is what keeps a project on track and a client confident, so it's something I never leave to chance.

NorBrook is a family business, and that changes how we work. When my dad, Robb, and I take on a custom home, an exterior remodel, or a commercial build, we treat it like it's our own — because our name is on it. My goal on every project is a successful outcome for the client: work done right, delivered on time and on budget, and built to a standard we're proud to stand behind.
